Dan and Gen met during game two of the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals. The only people inside on a beautiful summer evening, rooting for the Rangers in an exhilarating double overtime. Dan was so excited to find a Rangers fan in Boston that he didn’t care when Gen explained that she was only routing for the Rangers out of reverence for the Original Six (and the Kings are trash).
Sadly the the stars did not align for the Rangers that year, but they did for us, and we are so excited to share our big day with you.

Things to do
in the Portland and Scarborough Area
Enjoy the food
Portland was named 2018 Restaurant City of the Year. So here’s where the experts say to eat.
And here are some go-to’s:
Portland Lobster Co. - its Maine, get a lobster roll in the Old Port
Central Provisions - small plates and cocktails
Scales - higher end seafood
Duckfat - sandwich shop with duckfat fries and shakes
Eventide Oyster Co. - go for the raw bar
Visit the old port and sail Casco Bay
The original city center with cobblestone streets and historic buildings is also filled with great restaurants, bars, and shops to explore.
You can use the old port as a launching point for a tour of Casco Bay and its islands, 6 of which are accessible by ferry year round leaving from the Old Port.
Maine Beer Co. (in Freeport)
Prout’s Neck Cliff Walk
Enjoy the 1.5 mile walk around the Prout’s Neck Peninsula for a stunning view and some historic sites, like Winslow Homer’s studio. Parking is at the Black Point Inn, and only for guests, but if you tell them your with the wedding they’ll make an exception.
Scarborough Marsh Nature Center
This estuary and marsh are open 12 months a year, but the months between May and October are the best time to visit, when the Audubon Center in the southwest of the area is open. The total acreage is just over 3,000 and it is a delight for walkers and birdwatchers. It is also possible to rent a kayak or canoe.
On a rainy day head down to Freeport for some shopping at the original LL Bean store and other outlets
Head to the Beach
Temperature in May in the area can range from the 40’s to the 80s and has an average high in the mid 60’s. If we get one of the warm days you can try many on the great local beaches. Higgins Beach, next the Higgins Beach Inn as one might expect, is pictured above. Ferry Beach or Pine Point Beach are other great options.
Hit the Links
Also weather dependent, but there are many great golf courses in the area. If you are staying at the Black Point Inn you will have access to Prout’s Neck Country Club and their 18 hole waterfront course. There are a number of other great courses in the greater Portland area.
